2017 Huangshan Book Fair Successfully Held

The 2017 China Huangshan Book Fair was successfully held from Aug 28 to Sep 15. Drawing best experience from previous fairs,this year’s Huangshan Book Fair enhances its expertise, interaction, radiation and efficiency,meeting the cultural experience and demand for general readers and aiming to project the fair as a nationwide reading brand in China with long-term influence.

With comprehensively upgraded form and content,the 2017 Huangshan Book Fair combined with activities of the 4th Anhui Culture Benefiting the People Consumption Season and Going into different walks of life .The fair was held in separate spots within different time periods to meet individualized readers’ needs.

As one of the important activities of the 4thAnhui Culture Benefiting the People Consumption Season ,the 2017 Huangshan book Fair was jointly launched by the publicity department of Anhui provincial Party committee, Hefei Municipal Government, Administration of Press,Publication,Radio,Film and Television of Anhui Province, Anhui Provincial Committee of Education , Anhui Provincial Department of Culture, Anhui Provincial Literature and Art Association, Anhui Publishing Group and Anhui Xinhua Publishing Group.By breaking the traditional model of hosting the event at a certain place with fixed display and promotion, the 2017 Fair expanded the activities from place to place within the Anhui province.

Based on the goal of building Courteous and Scholarly Anhui , the writer activity of 2017 Huangshan Book Fair covered the whole province for the first time to bring reading into every walk of life and to make more people enjoy the cultural dividends of Huangshan Book Fair.

 The fair lasted as long as 19 days, much longer than last year’s two days.As of September 15, 34 writers already carried out 44 activities in Anhui Province. During this period, the Group set up special book exhibition areas in all Anhui Xinhua bookstores for such exhibiting themes as Two Studies ,One action,Traditional Chinese Studies, Teachers’ Reading List, Belt and Road Initiative, Books Written by General Secretary Xi Jinping. The activities increased the passenger flow and book sales turnover. As of September 15, the book sales increased by 5.77% year-on-year.

At the opening ceremony on Aug 28, the book fair organizing committee donated books to 12 reading spots in Anhui Province including Hefei Lei Street reading spot, West Hefei Crystal City reading spot, Wuhu Mirror Lake reading spot, Tongling Museum reading spot and Ma’an Shan Pro&Epi.logue reading spot.

As the main part of the 2017 China Huangshan Book Fair, the library book fair which literally means purchasing from libraries was held in Hefei city on September 13 to 14. More than 300 publishing houses attended the Fair with over 100,000 new books published in the past year and a half. Members from more than 400 public and university libraries and primary and secondary libraries from Gansu, Jiangsu and other provinces took part in the library book fair.

At the library fair,the Group invited the famous library expert, and former curator of Suzhou library, Qiu Guanhua, to give a lecture on Review and Reflection on the construction of the general public library within the new century.The lecture represents the group’s move to transform the library fair from trading platform to the industry communication platform.
